ORYKTOLOGIKA NEA-NEWS ON MINERALS- ATLAS OF LAVRION MINERALS
ATLAS OF LAVRION MINERALS
Lavrion (Lavreotiki) is one of the Earth's best "Laboratories" of Mineralogy. Its history is lost in Antiquity and there are thousands of collectors and numerous Museums that have samples from Lavrion. New minerals are being added to the known list of mineral species from Lavrion. The idea is to upload beautiful images of Lavrion minerals to the site of IACLM in facebook, https://www.facebook.com/groups/115645832341118/
and after gathering the so-called Lavrion mineralogical species, we believe that it can be proposed to an International Publishing House, for example. Elsevier, Springer-Verlag GmbH, etc. to fund and publish a monumental scientific work in Mineralogy: The illustrated ATLAS OF LAVRION MINERALS which will surely become a best-seller worldwide.
This project will also include the names of all collectors, museums, educational institutes, organizations etc. that will contribute with excellent quality photographs from their collection to the site of the International Association of Collectors of Minerals of Lavrio. With this thinking you can continue to upload mineral photos of Lavrion specimens with exact description and dimensions. So everyone can follow the path of the first of the two projects we have announced.
The dream will come true if everyone helps.

Σε πείσμα των καιρών και των οικονομικών δυσχερειών που αντιμετωπίζουν πολλοί συλλέκτες, το πάθος για τα ορυκτά και τα απολιθώματα ισχυροποιείται.
Τέσσερις (4) μπορεί να είναι οι λόγοι της αύξησης του ενδιαφέροντος:
Για μας αυτό δεν αποτελεί έκπληξη διότι γνωρίζουμε τις δυνατότητες της ενασχόλησης με τα ορυκτά και τα απολιθώματα και την δύναμη που αντλεί ο άνθρωπος διαχρονικά από αυτά, αφού η περιπέτεια για να τα αποκτήσει, να τα επεξεργαστεί, να τα ταξινομήσει, να τα ανταλλάξει κλπ τον κάνουν πιο ανθεκτικό και πιο απλό.
With great pleasure we realize that the passion for minerals and fossils is getting stronger despite the difficult times and the economic problems faced by many collectors.
Four may be the reasons for the increase of the interest:
It's entirely different the feeling in “buying lemons from the supermarket” and the feeling to “Clean up lemons” directly from the lemon tree.
For us this is not a surprise because we knew the possibilities of dealing with minerals and fossils and the power that draws a man out of them, since the adventure to the acquisition, process them, classify them, exchanged them make people more durable and simpler.

Σε πείσμα των καιρών και των οικονομικών δυσχερειών που αντιμετωπίζουν πολλοί συλλέκτες, το πάθος για τα ορυκτά και τα απολιθώματα ισχυροποιείται.
Τέσσερις (4) μπορεί να είναι οι λόγοι της αύξησης του ενδιαφέροντος:
- Η ακατανίκητη έλξη που ασκούν τα ορυκτά, οι κρύσταλλοι στους ανθρώπους
- Η δίψα για μάθηση
- Η ελευθερία και η περιπέτεια που συνδέεται με την αναζήτησή τους και
- Το μεγαλειώδες της διατήρησης ενός ζωϊκού ή φυτικού οργανισμού υπό την μορφή απολιθώματος στη Γη.
Για μας αυτό δεν αποτελεί έκπληξη διότι γνωρίζουμε τις δυνατότητες της ενασχόλησης με τα ορυκτά και τα απολιθώματα και την δύναμη που αντλεί ο άνθρωπος διαχρονικά από αυτά, αφού η περιπέτεια για να τα αποκτήσει, να τα επεξεργαστεί, να τα ταξινομήσει, να τα ανταλλάξει κλπ τον κάνουν πιο ανθεκτικό και πιο απλό.
Four may be the reasons for the increase of the interest:
- The irresistible attraction minerals, crystals and fossils act on people
- Thirst for knowledge
- Freedom and adventure associated with Travelling and locating them and
- The magnificent conservation of an animal or plant organism in the form of fossils on Earth.
For us this is not a surprise because we knew the possibilities of dealing with minerals and fossils and the power that draws a man out of them, since the adventure to the acquisition, process them, classify them, exchanged them make people more durable and simpler.
